Straight captures, no post-processing beyond what the preset does in engine.

Ultra preset, 1920 × 1080, the mod list on this site, no ReShade and no editing beyond resizing for the web. Click any frame for the full-size version; arrow keys move between them.

Late morning, dust haze on the roadGod rays · height fog · terrain parallax

Daytime is where the analytic height and distance fog does its work — the haze thickening across the middle distance is the fog pass, not a LOD trick. The power line and its shadow at centre frame are cascaded shadow maps at 2048 with the 8500-unit distance the Ultra preset sets; Balanced pulls that back to 6500 and you would see the shadow terminate closer in.

Poseidon Energy at duskBloom · split-toned grade · god rays

Dusk is the hardest case for the grade, because the sky is bright while everything under it is already dark. This is the split tone doing the work — warm in the highlights, blue held in the shadows — with eight bloom passes softening the sky without letting it bleed into the buildings. Purist removes the split tone entirely and this frame reads noticeably flatter and cooler.

Sodium lamp on an empty stretchNight point-light shadows · PBR specular

The lamp is from ELECTRO-CITY; the pool of light under it, the falloff across the asphalt, and the shadows the wrecks throw are NVR. This is what ShadowsExteriors.Main UsePointShadowsNight buys, and it is also the single most expensive setting in the preset — Balanced turns it off, which is most of the difference in lit towns. The oxidised trim reading as metal rather than flat paint is the PBR specular term.

Crescent moon over the overpassNight exposure lift · MoonlightNVSE

The frame version 1.1.0 was built for. Stock NVR applies no exposure compensation at night at all, so a scene this dark stays exactly as the tonemapper leaves it. Here the correction lifts the shadows while the lit billboard and the moon stay where they were — that is the self-cancelling behaviour described on the preset page. The moonlight direction comes from MoonlightNVSE; without it the shadows here would still be cast by the sun.

Taking your own

F11

NVR's own screenshot key writes a clean frame with no HUD to <game root>/Screenshots. It captures after the post-process chain, so what you get is what you saw.

One caveat: if you run DXVK with HDR output, the built-in capture will not handle it — use Game Bar, Steam or the Nvidia overlay instead.
